QUICK-SERVICE

We carry out the following work when replacing a battery:

  • Replacing the battery

  • Functional and visual inspection

  • Checking the water resistance

  • 12-month guarantee on the battery

The watches tested for water resistance undergo various test programmes that are specially adapted to the watch models.

With our Witschi Proofmaster-M testing device, we can carry out water-resistance tests at a pressure of between 1 and 10 bar. The advantage of this device is that the watch does not have to be dismantled and can be tested dry as a whole.

One bar corresponds approximately to one atmosphere (atm) and simulates the pressure acting on the watch at a depth of approx. 1 meter under water.

RESISTANCE
TESTING

For pressures above 10 bar (or atmospheres), we use our Roxer Natador 125, with which we can simulate and test watch cases at pressures from 100 metres (10 bar) to 1250 meters (125 bar).

But beware: a watch that is water-resistant to 30 meters (3 bar) cannot be used for a dive. Depending on the intended use, the watch case must be designed and manufactured accordingly.

Watches with a water resistance of 3 or 5 bar can be used in everyday life. Watches with a water resistance of 10 bar can be used for showering. For bathing, swimming or diving, however, watches with a water resistance of 20 bar (200 meters) or more must be used.

COMPLETE SERVICE

For a watch includes with us:

  • Disassembly of the movement, visual and mechanical inspection, checking and adjustment of endshake and gearing, repair or replacement of worn or damaged movement parts.

  • Cleaning of all parts, reassembly, oiling, rate adjustment and checking of movement functions.

  • Battery replacement (for quartz watches)

  • Fine adjustment of timekeeping accuracy

  • Function and final check

  • Cleaning the case, metal bracelet and folding clasp or pin buckle

  • Restoring the water-resistance (if the condition of the watch allows it)

The work carried out is covered by a one-year guarantee.

(The guarantee does not cover broken mainsprings, broken glass, water damage or material fatigue.)

TIME MEASUREMENT

After every complete service or partial repair, the mechanical movement must be checked and, if necessary, readjusted ( regulated ). Depending on the caliber and age of the movement, different tolerances and requirements apply.

This is where Witschi's Chronoscope X1 comes in with its Micromat C, which automatically checks the accuracy of the watches in various positions and provides the watchmaker with the corresponding results for analysis.

However, the movement must still be adjusted by the experienced hands of the watchmaker.

Mechanical watches can also be magnetized by external influences and exhibit major rate deviations. Bring us your watch and we will check and correct it.

QUALITY ASSURANCE

Wristwatches with automatic movements are tested on our ELMA Cyclomotion. The watches are automatically wound and kept running on a daily basis.

After several cycles, the watches are individually checked for their power reserve. Depending on the caliber of the movement, this must correspond to the manufacturer's specifications.

A flawless condition is reflected in a perfectly functioning movement with the correct power reserve and high accuracy.

We would be happy to explain our various quality standards and tests to you in a personal consultation in our workshop.

CRAFTSMANSHIP

We have thousands of spare parts and components from various manufacturers spanning several decades. It can happen that spare parts are no longer available.

In such cases, we can fall back on our craftsmanship and make special adaptations or custom-made products.

We have a high-precision lathe with the necessary accessories and a small Bergeon lathe at our disposal for this purpose. The necessary skills and the right tools are essential for these precision machines.

We live and promote craftsmanship in a special way. You will certainly notice it or have already noticed it: We love our craft!
